Dear Homeowners,

We would like to address the recent surge in emails and online discussion surrounding the

replacement of street signs within River Oaks.

A small group—made up of current and former homeowners has been circulating misinformation and making inappropriate claims about this matter, both verbally and through various online platforms.

To clarify, the matter of the street signs has been discussed on multiple occasions—most recently at our annual meeting and in a written update distributed to all members. This project was to have been completed over a year ago but was delayed due to the more pressing replacement of street signs damage during Hurricane Irma.

As a reminder, the roadways within River Oaks are public and, as such, must comply with

county codes. Unfortunately, the prior signage did not meet these requirements and was installed without the necessary permits.

A former board authorized and funded the installation of these non-conforming signs, which left

the association exposed to potential liability in the event of an accident or injury due to non-

compliance with public safety standards. Once this issue was brought to our attention, the current board, in cooperation with the county, acted responsibly to replace the signs in order to bring the community into compliance and reduce risk for all homeowners.

It is unfortunate that, rather than acknowledging the liability and the corrective measures taken,

several individuals have chosen to misrepresent the facts and make unfounded

accusations—including against a fellow homeowner who has been wrongly blamed for the

removal of the signage. The decision to replace the signs was a necessary response to the actions of a prior board and was coordinated with the county.

We understand that community changes may raise concerns, and we hope this message helps to

clarify the situation and address any confusion that may have arisen from recent

communications.

Thank you for your attention and continued support.

Sincerely,

River Oaks HOA Board
